Spanking....The Horror!

California Assemblywoman Sally Lieber (D-Mountain View) wants to outlaw spanking of children under three years of age.

Lieber told the San Francisco Chronicle last week, "I think we out to have a law against beating children."

No problem, Assemblywoman Lieber, you already do. It is already illegal to beat children in the state of California, and even in the Midwest and down south we have laws against beating children. Can you imagine? Even backwards people in Middle America think it is bad to beat their children!

"I think it's pretty hard to argue you need to beat a child 3 years old or younger,'' Lieber commented to the San Jose Mercury News. "Is it OK to whip a 1-year-old or a six-month-old or a newborn?

No Ms. Lieber it is not OK to "whip" a six-month old or a newborn, most reasonable adults know the difference between beating/whipping and spanking. They are not the same thing, and again, there are already laws on the books protecting children from this.

What this would effectively do is make California a police state - can you imagine the nightmare of enforcing this stupidity?

Competent, rational adults don't need Lieber to tell them how to discipline and raise their children.
