Texas Governor Orders HPV Vaccinations for Schoolgirls

From an article in the Chicago Tribune. Governor Perry's actions and what Merck is doing could influence what is done in Iowa as well. I have some real reservations about this on a variety of different levels.

1. Will this encourage more girls to engage in pre-marital sex?
2. Does this infringe on parental rights, another example of the state telling us how to parent?
3. Is it a good idea to let a drug company (Merck) have so much influence in public policy, especially when the fact is they are going to make gobs of money?
