Prayer Not Politics

It is amazing to me that the political debate over gun control is happening already. Just look in today's opinion section in the Des Moines Register both sides are going at it.

While the discussion about campus security needs to happen, let's put aside partisan debate and take time to remember the victims and their families in prayer. Pray for those who lost loved ones, pray for those still hospitalized that they would experience emotional and physical healing. Praise God for those who survived. Pray for those who experienced classmates & friends dying around them.

Praise God for
Professor Liviu Librescu who selflessly gave his life so that his students may live. Pray for the rescue workers and police whose minds will forever be scarred by the images of the carnage that took place Monday morning. Pray for the university community for comfort, for peace, and for the campus ministries that God will use them to share Christ's hope to all who have need. Pray as well for the shooter's family as they must be feeling sheer horror and shame over what their son has done.
