Death to Child Rapists?
She refers to a scumbag (I have a true disdain for child rapists and child molesters) named Patrick Kennedy who back in 1998 raped his wife's 8-year-old daughter. He was found guilty and sentenced to death. That sentence was upheld the Louisiana Supreme Court. She reports that more states are bringing back the death penalty for child rapists (Louisiana, Georgia, Montana, Oklahoma, Florida, and South Carolina - and it looks like Texas will also allow the death option soon).
What do you think? I've been back and forth on the death penalty in general, but by and large have been in favor of it if the burden of proof has been adequately met. Personally speaking if it were my daughter I would go for the guy being castrated slowly and then face execution, but admittedly perhaps that's a bit harsh.

If the courts were efficient and accurate, I'd support the death penalty in certain cases...but they are not...so I don't.
Which is a change from the way I felt a few years ago.
I can understand. The only thing I felt Governor George Ryan did right in Illinois was placed a moritorium on the death penalty since so many cases in that state were being overturned.
I believe before someone is put to death a substantial burden of proof needs to be met. The last thing I would want to see is an innocent person get put to death.
